You must register separately on SRP’s voter list if you want to vote!
If you’ve not noticed by now, I’m posting short videos and blogs every week.
In bite-sized episodes I’m covering everything from the basics of your energy freedom to SRPs very odd election system.
It’s all what you need to know to be ready for the April 7th, 2026 SRP board election.
I’m empowering you with this knowledge because I’m guessing that nobody else has!
And I’ve learned over the years that most people can’t remember all these strange rules without a little repetition.
I know that I couldn’t.
This week I want to remind you that SRP has its own voter registration system —its own Permanent Early Voter List.
Before you try to register to vote, use this link to confirm that you own a home or farm in SRP’s “votable lands.” Only property owners can vote —even if you are an APS customer.
Once you’ve confirmed that, go to this link to register.
This next bit is super-duper important.
If there are two of you on the deed to your property, you both need to register and you both need to vote!
Otherwise, your vote will only count for half of what your property’s total voting right is.
Say what?
Here’s an example!
If you happen to own a home on 1/2 of an acre and there are two people on the deed, then you each get 1/4 of a vote.
Remember, this is an acre voting system where one acre equals one vote for those 10 districts.
Alternatively, if your home is held in a trust then the trust votes.
Take that same example of the 1/2 acre property with two owners. The owners decided to put their home in a trust. In that case, the trust votes the entire 1/2 acre.
But what about the at-large votes?
But wait! Don’t forget that in addition to the 10 districts SRP has four at-large seats.
Those votes are counted as “one property owner, one vote.”
So if two of you own a home in a trust, you both still get your own vote for the at-large candidates.
There will be no test.
While there will be no test on all this information, you will probably need to refer back to it when early voting starts in March of 2026.
