Straight Talk About Data Centers

Source: Debate hosted by Joe Dana on Channel 12

I’m sure you will see attack ads from the Data Center Daddies saying that our clean energy candidates hate economic growth, or don’t want to help the data center companies compete with China, or some such horse pucky.

So, let’s be clear about where I stand: data centers are a reality.

What is not necessary is the waste —the water waste and the energy waste. Data centers can be more responsive to our communities, and still be able to create jobs or compete on the global economic scale.

As you can see in the graph, one sector of the utility customer base is forcing an expansion of dirty, water-wasting power generation while forcing the rest of us to pay for it.

What we know is that the Data Center Daddies don’t have the public on their side. We are talking to hundreds of voters every week, of every party persuasion, who see what’s really going on and they are not buying the spin from data centers.

Big Data will try to distract you and obfuscate the issues.

Don’t fall for it. Spread the word. Share this email. Use this election to send a signal to Big Data that we won’t stand for it.

Our Positive Vision

  • Imagine an Arizona where we know that we have assured water for 7 generations in to the future.

  • Imagine a Valley of the Sun where we don’t taste the polluted air when we go outside to exercise.

  • Imagine knowing that your home, your largest investment, will maintain its value because people will continue to want to invest in Arizona.

  • Imagine having a utility that respects your energy freedom and works with you to save money while protecting the grid for all of us.

  • Imagine people over profits.

That is what I’m about and I know that is what my fellow candidates are about.
